Tip: Install your Sentry in a high traffic area (i.e. living room) and far away from sources of loud noise (i.e. TVs).

Add your property to your Sentry account by following the onscreen instructions. (Properties are used to differentiate between different properties, buildings, or addresses)

  1. Click on + Add Property on the top right screen of the Dashboard and fill in the form fields.
  2. Next we will prepare the device before connecting to a property. Turn on your device by holding the back button for 1 second to power your device on. You should see a stable blue and green light.
  3. Put your device into pairing mode by holding the back button for 5 to 6 seconds or until the 3 lights start to blink. You will see blinking lights which may appear teal in color. Blinking lights means your device is ready for setup.
  4. On your app dashboard, choose the property that was created in Step 1 and select “Add Device”. Please follow the on-screen instructions to add your WiFi connection.
  5. Once you connect to WiFi, your app will display “Searching for Sentry device” on the screen. Allow your device to search for Sentry and then click “Connect”. This will begin device pairing and may take a few seconds during initial setup. Reminder, please do not exit the app during this step. If the device displays blinking red lights during this stage, please do not touch the device or the App.
  6. Once the device has successfully connected, select the room type and fill in the room name.
  7. Once complete, you can choose to add another device to this property or finish pairing.

4. Sentry Placement

A: Wall Mount (Recommended)
  • Please do not mount your device unless you have successfully paired the device. We recommend testing your device for a few days to ensure you do not encounter any issues.
  • Find a spot on your wall that is no higher than 3 feet above the ground. (Optimal placement is approx. 1 foot above the ground)
  • Clean the surface with the provided wet wipe. (Note: In order to prevent the device from being tampered with, Sentry is difficult to remove.)
  • After the surface dries, first apply the adhesive pad to the back of your Sentry, then position the device at the desired location and gently press the device against the wall for 5 seconds to adhere it.
B: Horizontal Surface
  • Insert the provided rubber feet into the bottom of your Sentry. Place your Sentry somewhere inconspicuous to prevent tampering.
  • Optional: Use the cable clips to organize and guide the USB-C cable.

Sentry Light Meanings

Once Sentry is successfully paired, it will not emit any colored lights. You will only see lights on your Sentry during device pairing or if it has been disconnected from Wi-Fi.

BLUE and GREEN

A stable BLUE light on the left, followed by a GREEN light on the top of the Sentry means the device is initializing (user needs to wait until both lights go off: 2- 3 seconds). This can happen after a hard reset or the first time a user turns a new device on.

Blinking TEAL lights

The device will display blinking teal lights when it is in pairing mode.

Blinking RED lights

The device may blink red upon initial pairing of Sentry if the device is on an older firmware. Once the device automatically updates to the latest firmware version, the user should not experience blinking red lights at any point. Please contact customer support if you continue to experience this.

Blinking YELLOW lights

The device will emit slow blinking yellow lights when it loses Wi-Fi connection.

Blinking BLUE lights

The device will emit rapid blinking blue lights when it is attempting to reconnect to the Wi-Fi network.

3 GREEN lights

The device will emit 3 stable green lights once it has successfully reconnected to the Wi-Fi network,

3 RED lights

The device will emit 3 stable red lights before powering off.
